SS+F JUNE 2012 UPDATE: I AM RAMARLEY

Stop Stop + Frisk NYC grew out of the Stop Mass Incarceration Network, begun by Cornel West and Carl Dix. In October of 2011, Stop Stop + Frisk NYC was born in front of Harlem’s 28th Precinct; dozens were arrested protesting the NYPD’s racist campaign of “Stop, Question, and Frisk.” In the next months, the NYC group carried out more non-violent civil disobedience actions, began regular “cop watch” days, came out in support of other organizations and individuals fighting against police abuse, and conducted a massive public education and outreach effort. In April of 2012 Stop Stop + Frisk NYC re-formed, in part to clarify our mission and leadership/organizational structure, and in part to energize so that we may continue to do the work we have done around local issues. We are a collective of people with a diversity of political views. This organization is not affiliated with any other political organization or party. We support any group that is working to end NYPD violence, corruption, militarization, intimidation, and harassment. We demand an end to pre-emptive policing! We demand an end to the mass incarceration of people of color, or anyone!
